MEET THE COACH

A Good Coach Can Change a Game, a Great Coach Can Change a Life.

Owner and Head Instructor Danny Fung has been teaching martial arts for over 25 years. His main credentials are in the arts of Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He holds black belts in three respective disciplines. In 1996, Danny received official Muay Thai instructorship “KRU” status at the very young age of 21, by the World Muay Thai Council, under Ajahn (Master) Suchart Yodkerepauprai, an honor very few have accomplished. On November 30th, 2013, he received the prestigious rank promotion of "KRU YAI" (Assistant Master) by his Ajahn. On April 13th, 2019, Kru Yai Danny had the honor of receiving the Sports Authority and the Nai Khanom Tom Association Top 10 Best Kru Award!

Danny also obtained a Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) instructor certification from Japan in 2000 and is one of few who has ever acquired the official rank of 1st Degree Black Belt in the art of Pancrase, signed and stamped by Bas Rutten, King of Pancrase and UFC Heavyweight Champion, and Masami Ozaki, President of the World Pancrase Association in Tokyo, Japan. Danny is an official second degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt under Masters Romero “Jacaré” Cavalcanti and Fabio Gurgel, the founders of the world recognized Alliance BJJ Association. 

 

Danny also had the privilege to train extensively with the world renowned Miletich Fighting Systems Team: Pat Miletich, Matt Hughes, Jeremy Horn, Jens Pulver, Tim Sylvia, Spencer Fisher, Robbie Lawler at the time when each were UFC champions in their weight classes. He also trained with the legendary Rob Kaman, Marcus Soares, Erik Paulson, Guro Dan Inosanto, Frank Shamrock, Saeksan Janjira, Surachai Sirisute and has trained extensively under his friend Pablo Popovitch (2010 World Jiu-Jitsu No-Gi Champion), and world BJJ champion, Lucas Lepri.

His martial arts roots began at the age of 6 years old, where his traditional Karate training led him to achieve his 1st degree black belt in the art of Kyokushin-Kai Karate. At 16, he then pursued Jun Fan/Jeet Kune Do and Filipino Kali martial arts, reaching apprentice instructor status in both, prior to dedicating himself to the fighting art and culture of Muay Thai, in 1994.

Danny is also a certified nutritionist and a certified Fitness Trainer. His extensive knowledge has enabled him to help many athletes enhance their performance and attain their weight loss and fitness goals, and has served as a source to working with many amateur and professional fighters and athletes in regards to their personal training programs, nutritional outlines, diets, and effective weight-cutting techniques.

His Muay Thai and BJJ classes are dynamic and challenging, and emphasize conditioning so you can get in great shape. Each class also offers a complete technical package for beginners as well as more advanced practitioners. You'll even find him training alongside his students on a regular basis. He stays in shape and keeps developing with each member at Experience improving his own skills daily.​ He loves spending time with his wife Julie and their beloved son, Alex "the Prodigy", who is an assistant-instructor and shaping up to become a champion martial artist!

 

Coach Danny also offers private classes in both Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. These hour-long sessions are tailored for each student to enhance their martial arts abilities in either discipline and are perfect for a belt or a short exam preparation.
